Luke has been going through this tutoring, his reading/writing grade
has improved from a D- to a B-. He no longer gets upset when we go over
spelling words, and he actually writes stories, which he never did

My son has been helped in many ways through her program. He has always struggled with reading and spelling. School was generally hard for him. This has also caused my son’s self esteem to suffer to the point where he thought he was stupid. He has only been coming to Mrs. Menn for seven months, but I have seen such an improvement. My son’s reading and spelling have both improved. He feels better about himself and school. His grades are also getting better. He never complains about going to tutoring because Nancy Menn helps him feel better about himself. He knows his strengths and weaknesses, and he can identify when he needs help. My husband and I are very grateful for Nancy Menn and the Dyslexia Reading Connection." BH ________________________________________ "In Mitchell’s case the results speak for themselves. Going from not reading three letter words to being able to read almost any word in less than two years is nothing short of a miracle. Reading so greatly affects other school subjects and because Mitchell can read almost to grade level, he is better able to absorb all the other educational opportunities before them. Standardized test results from spring of 2006 and again later in 2007 show an amazing improvement in all areas of reading after one year of tutoring. It would be very interesting to have Mitchell retested with the school district to see the measurable progress in another concrete form as well. As his mother, I know that Mitchell’s tutoring with Nancy has saved him from many struggles, frustrations, and lost educational opportunities. It will continue to help him succeed in learning all his life. I am a parent so grateful for how my son was helped, that is hard to accurately put into words." Her MAP scores in the fall were in the 30th percentile for math and 1st percentile for reading. We just got our winter scores back...87th percentile for math and somewhere in the 30th percentile for reading! Also in a lot of the other areas (writing, self esteem, confidence, interest,...) we’ve seen nothing but positive results. Thanks for getting us together with Brenda! Juliette really loves working with her!" AP ________________________________________ I had tried other programs in my adult life to help me, but none of them were right. I am so thankful that I read the newspaper and found out about the program Nancy was offering. It was exactly what I needed. I work in an office and struggled with spelling even with having a spell check or a dictionary. If a person doesn’t KNOW the sounds of a word they are spelling, they are lost as to where to begin to spell it. I don’t have that struggle as much anymore. I do believe in this program 100% and see many people that could benefit from it. I wish that it would be something our educational systems would take an interest in. Had I been given this program in my early school years, I don’t think I would have had to have been in special education class all through school. I believe I would have gone on to college because the yearning to learn was there. But I had struggled so much, it was hard for me to process things, and I didn’t have anyone that understood I just needed to be taught a different way. CS |
